Hi my fellow students!
My two most favorite exercises that we have done in this course are: Loving Kindness and the Visualization "Meeting Asclepius". I found both to really make my heart soar. I felt whole and calm and kinder after doing both of these, whether I did them at separate times or one right after the other. I felt like I was "working out" my stress and creating health in my own mind, body and spirit. I intend to do these exercises on a weekly basis. I want to do the "Meeting Asclepius" one on every Sunday night as I start wind down time. I want to do the loving kindness one, the other six days. I found that I can do a watered down version of it while I am driving to work or when I first get to work. I am finding that when I do this practice, my whole day seems to go better and I am lighter and find laughter around me. For me, laughter is like working out my muscles for mental fitness. I need to have some of it everyday and smiles for those around me, too.
I would love to hear your examples of how you finding a way to put your favorite exercises into your daily life.

Hello Therese,
ReplyDeleteI am gratiful for you and you achievements though the exercises. This is a step forward in your life. When your day seem to confuse you, mixed or at a dead end you have lots of exercises to choose and do or practise.
I am proud of your plan or schedule to work out. Remember, if something obstracts you, upsets you; pick up yourself and get going do not give up, Laughter is medicine to me. I am really less stressed and overwhelming' Personally I try to incooparate loving-kindness, forgive and forget I will keep on practicing the other exercises. Practise makes perfect.
I can not sit without doing anything I will sleep. I am working long shifts so sittingdown means resting and sleeping.
Better Health,
ReplyDeletethank you for your loving words.
I agree sitting down meets getting ready for bed or taking a bath! I hope I can make some of these exercises a part of my life, every week.
I will send you restful thoughts so when you are off a long shift, you can feel calm and peaceful

I too use my drive to work as a time to think about my meditations and bring my mind into focus. Even though I am still working on being able to meditate, just taking the time to think about these exercises puts me in a better mindset for my job. I work in a very busy chiropractic office as a receptionist, so if I am not on my game it turns out to be a very rough day. This time while I am on my way is very important to getting me ready for the day. I really enjoyed reading your post!
ReplyDeleteHello Therese,
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on taking on the enemy of stress. I for one cannot stand it and do everything in my power to dissolve it before it ever gets out of control. A cool example that I have to share today regarding laughter is taking a look at life and viewing it without expectations, as if it was brand new, fresh out of the box. By doing so and witnessing the world around us you can really get a grasp for what life is all about and why we should not take it for granted. (especially if you've got kids) With the holidays just around the corner it's always nice to see more than usual amounts of Loving Kindness. With that, there is more laughter and happiness than ever before, even for those who don't normally experience it simply because humanity takes the time to look around and help out. Here's one more thought. Sometimes the movies aren't so kind in reflecting a happy ending, especially as of late in the movie called Skyline. If there's one thing to take out of this movie after seeing it and others like Cloverfield and District 9, it's that sometimes there always isn't a happy ending hence we should not take life or our fellow man/woman for granted.

My favorite part of your blog is how you already figured out the time in which you plan to continue your practices. This will really commit you to your wellness and have great benefits to your life. After it was mentioned many times in class, I found myself realizing that I find a lot of my inner calmness through writing down my thoughts. The one thing that I really enjoy is reflection rather it be positive or negative. I never thought I would actually do this, but I started a new blog for me. This way family and friends will know what is going on with me and still they will be my own ways of creating calmness within myself. I was thinking that after I write these posts on the blog, this would be the perfect time to do some meditative practices since my blockade of thoughts is unleashed and I am ready to relax my mind, body, and soul. Happy continuing integral health practices everybody!
ReplyDeleteTherese,
ReplyDeleteI will be happy to recieve the information that will make me feel a bit better after a long days work. "restful thoughts so when you are off a long shift, you can feel calm and peaceful"
I will try and keep on trying till I can do better and the better best. Thank you so much.
I must say I do love your blog page. Just reminds me of being authentic, qualitative and peaceful. I am one who tries to implement this exercises as well as I drive to work or while in the car. I must say sometimes I do find it very hard to do due to traffic sometimes wins. Must say once I arrive at work, I need the relaxation so I practice the sublet mind exercise. By allowing your self to find a connection between your mind, body, soul, and spirit is a great step to mental healing.
ReplyDeleteI am glad to hear you are having such success with these techniques and it sounds like you have a great plan to continue to benefit from them going forward. I have also begun utilizing the Loving-Kindness practices and I do notice a difference already. Like you said, we must continuously exercise these areas of our being, just as we would our physical self. I feel it is also a huge factor that we are aware of it now and thinking about it every day...it’s like our eyes have been opened to a new way of looking at things and now we can never go back to ignoring those areas of ourselves. It is not always easy to make time for these practices in our life, but being aware is at least a good first step. We must create a plan that works for us and hold ourselves accountable to it...it sounds like you are doing just that! I wish you the best of luck with everything :)
ReplyDeleteThank you to all of you that blogged to me.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate each of your's input and advice.
I really do find it a struggle to set the time aside for meditation and I am really looking at why that is?? I can schedule dr. and dentist appts. and exercise time and classes but not personal meditation time?? I am aware that this is about self care and I am the one that needs to change it. I love seeing all of your progess, it brings a smile to my face!
